Son Heung-min has praised Richarlison as the pair gear up to feature prominently in Tottenham Hotspur’s attack this season.

Tottenham have been over in South Korea for a pre-season tour of late, playing two games out in the Far East.

Tottenham first took on the K-League All Stars, claiming a 6-3 victory in a truly bonkers game over in Seoul.

Antonio Conte’s men then headed on to Suwon on Saturday, facing Sevilla in what turned out to be a 1-1 draw.

Harry Kane’s opener was cancelled out by an Ivan Rakitic leveller, meaning Spurs head back to England with one win and one draw.

Son Heung-min has praised Richarlison

This will have been seen as a chance for Tottenham to blood their new signings but it didn’t quite work out that way.

Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma have been out with illness, Ivan Perisic has been nursing an injury and Clement Lenglet was left back in London.

That meant Richarlison was Tottenham’s only new signing on show but there were really promising signs.

Richarlison started as a striker against the K-League All Stars before taking up a wider role against Sevilla.

That’s the kind of versatility Tottenham are seeking from Richarlison and he has earned real praise from boss Antonio Conte.

Richarlison is Tottenham’s big-money signing this summer having arrived from Everton, providing another attacking threat for Conte’s side.

Richarlison can offer competition for both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the Tottenham front line – and has now been praised by the latter.

Son has told The Athletic that he loves Tottenham adding competition for places in attack, believing that Spurs can now be more flexible going forward.

Son added that the signing of a player like Richarlison is ‘incredible’, admitting that he is a ‘quality player’ and already a ‘really close friend’ after such a short stint at Tottenham.

“Competition is always good. You improve yourself and also your team-mates,” said Son. “We can rotate, or we can have a different style of football, or we can have different movements.”

“Adding players like Richy is incredible. He’s a quality player so I’m really enjoying that. I’ve been with him only four days but he’s become like a really close friend,” he added.
