The Spurs ace spoke after the Premier League side’s stint at a warm-weather training camp in Barcelona.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League title hopes have sadly taken a tumble in recent weeks, as a team five points off the top with a game in hand as of 10 February (BBC Sport) is now 13 points adrift of leaders Manchester City with eight games left.
Defeats to Burnley, Chelsea and Southampton, plus a draw with North London rivals Arsenal, have not only left Spurs third in the table, but the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and the Gunners are snapping at their heels.
It’s a completely different matter in the Champions League, however – Tottenham overcame Borussia Dortmund by a 4-0 aggregate scoreline, a 3-0 triumph at Wembley being followed up by a solid, professional 1-0 win at the Signal Iduna Park.
With Spurs now in the quarter-finals, Moussa Sissoko spoke to the official club website following a warm-weather training camp in Barcelona and, after speaking highly of the training sessions, he moved on to the subject of what the team hopes to do in the business end.
“The objectives for the team now are to finish in the top three of the league and to try to secure the Champions League,” he said. “It won’t be easy, but everything is in our own hands and if we win the remainder of our games, we know we will be in the top three for sure.
“At the same time, in the Champions League, we will try to go to the end if we can. We know it won’t be easy because we’ve still got a lot of good teams to play, but it’s about how we play our football. We love to play these kinds of games.”
Sissoko has made 22 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, providing two assists in the process, according to Whoscored.
