The Crystal Palace man is reportedly wanted by Everton, but Tottenham Hotspur should gatecrash the party.
Spurs fans are growing increasingly more frustrated at their club’s lack of transfer activity with every week that passes, as their main rivals continue to invest heavily in their respective squads.
One particular area where Tottenham must improve, if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season, is the forward department, with more competition required for number one striker Harry Kane.
Vincent Janssen really struggled last season, and proved that he is nowhere near good enough to deputise for the England international, especially if he has to fill in for a prolonged period.
With this in mind, Mauricio Pochettino should consider challenging Everton for Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, with Sky Sports reporting that the Toffees are readying a bid for the striker.

The 26-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League over a sustained period of time, scoring 66 league goals in 154 outings during his time in England, and would be more than adequate competition for Kane.
The Belgian has explosive pace over short distances, and with his powerful frame, has the ability to bully opposing defenders. His strength in the air would be a useful asset to the Lilywhites, especially if the need arises to mix things up.
Two potential problems for Spurs though will not only be the Eagles’ reluctance to sell the 26-year-old, but fierce competition from Everton.
Palace paid Liverpool £27 million for Benteke’s devices last summer, a fee the could rise to £32 million dependent on the Belgian’s performances, so if they do sanction his exit, it would surely cost Tottenham a fairly hefty amount.
And whether Daniel Levy is prepared to make such a costly investment in the Palace star is doubtful, despite the fact that he could add so much to the Spurs squad.
