Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be keeping tabs on Manchester United defender Phil Jones.
The Sun claim Spurs and Arsenal are monitoring the defender, who is out of favour at United.
He has started just one league game all season after his FA Cup final calamity which cost the Red Devils the game against Chelsea. Most weeks he does not even make the bench.
Jones has had his chances at United and at times appears to be a liability. He is a long way from the expectations placed upon him when he joined the Red Devils.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino may fancy a reclamation project – but signing Jones would be an odd choice.
It would be especially strange with Eric Bailly also reportedly on the club’s radar.
The Mail reported last month Tottenham are keen on the Ivory Coast international, who United signed for £30 million in 2016. The Telegraph reported just last night that Jose Mourinho has decided he wants to sell the defender.
Bailly would instantly compete for a starting spot at Spurs and could be developed by Mauricio Pochettino into one of the best defenders in the league once again.
Jones would be little more than a back-up, and if Tottenham settle for him instead of Bailly, it would be a concerning decision.
