Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Barcelona winger.

Mauricio Pochettino manager

Mauricio Pochettino failed to sign a single player for Tottenham during the summer transfer window, and the early signs are that they have actually regressed this season.

With this in mind, the Argentine will surely be looking to bolster his options in January, in an effort to improve his side’s chances of finishing inside the top four.

Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport claims that one of Spurs’ key targets is Barcelona winger Malcom, and the north London outfit are allegedly prepared to pay £50 million in order to snare the Brazilian.

The 21-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Bordeaux in the summer, but has desperately failed to establish himself at the Camp Nou, earning just 25 minutes of action in all competitions thus far.

Malcom is undoubtedly talented, but his struggles to impress at Barca should act as a major red flag for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino needs to buy players who will come into the club and make an instant impact, and the jury is out on whether Malcom would be able to offer just that.

The Barcelona man is also fairly similar to what Spurs already have in the shape of Lucas Moura.

£50 million is a serious amount of cash, even in spite of today’s ludicrously inflated market, and Tottenham might just be better off looking elsewhere other than the Brazilian winger.
