Inter Milan paid a fee of £37 million to bring the then 22-year-old to Italy from French side AS Monaco (according to Football Italia). Interestingly, when he signed for the Italian giants, he was considered as one of the hottest prospects in Europe – even on par with fellow countryman Paul Pogba.

It didn’t all go to well for the French international, especially under the tutelage of Frank de Boer as he struggled to play with the freedom that made him so highly rated. Tottenham, who are yet to sign anyone in the current transfer window could do with adding depth to their, admittedly, excellent midfield.

The Frenchman is strong on the ball and has a very good passing range, long and short, which can be handy in terms of starting moves especially in the broader pitch of the Wembley Stadium. Also for a tall man, he has great close control, and with Mousa Dembélé not getting any younger he could be viewed as a long term replacement for the Belgian.

With Tottenham expected to challenge in all four competitions, his experience and talent could improve the squad considerably. Just don’t mention that own goal against Chelsea.
