Roma are interested in landing AC Milan’s Bonaventura, but he would be the perfect summer addition at Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur could be on the lookout for a new central midfielder in the summer as reports suggest Juventus are interested in nabbing Mousa Dembele.

The Evening Standard claim 30-year-old Dembele is a target for the Italian champions after an excellent season in north London under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Belgian only has one more season remaining on his contract with Spurs, though, meaning his long-term future is in doubt. It should convince Pochettino to draw up a shortlist of central midfielders in case Dembele does decide to jump ship.

What Spurs are currently lacking is a central midfielder who can score goals. Manchester United have Paul Pogba, Liverpool have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Manchester City have Kevin De Bruyne and Arsenal have Aaron Ramsey.

But at Spurs the collective of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Dembele have managed just one goal between them, coming in the form of Wanyama’s wonder strike against Liverpool.

If they are to replace Dembele, Spurs need a deep-lying midfielder who can score. Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim AS Roma want to sign AC Milan’s Giacomo Bonaventura, but he would be perfect at Tottenham.

The 28-year-old Italian has shown again this season that he can score from deep, finding the back of the net six times in all competitions as he becomes a mainstay under Gennaro Gattuso.

His previous exploits as a number 10 have aided Bonaventura in his vision and attacking prowess from deep, allowing him to either pick an incisive pass or indeed shoot from long range.

Adding the eight-time Italy international to Spurs’ ranks will give the north Londoners the missing ingredient needed to finally go on and lift the Premier League trophy.
