Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bring in another attacker this summer and Mauricio Pochettino should listen to Gary Neville’s comments about Russian hero Denis Cheryshev, following Thursday’s 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia.

Former Real Madrid winger Cheryshev, 27, scored two exquisite goals for Russia during their 5-0 battering of Saudi Arabia, which drew praise from Neville at half-time.

Speaking on ITV’s coverage of the match, Neville said that Cheryshev is “perfect for English football”, after working with the Russian left winger during his time as Valencia manager.

Cheryshev came off the bench on Thursday after Alan Dzagoev picked up a hamstring injury, and opened the scoring with an incredibly deft touch before firing a shot into the roof of the net. His second is a contender for goal of the tournament.

Spurs are likely to be after a new attacker this summer and have already been linked with moves for Bordeaux’s Malcom, Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic and an incredible return for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

But Spurs should seriously consider Cheryshev after his left-footed masterclass for Russia on Thursday, as well as Neville’s comments.

Last season, Cheryshev had a hand in seven goals during his 32 league and cup appearances – a record that is some way below the likes of Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli.

However, it is his hard work and passionate displays that sees a team perform better when he is in the side. Indeed, signing Cheryshev would bring the best out of the likes of Eriksen and Alli. A must-buy this summer.
