Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing the Nice striker.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham have been joined by London rivals West Ham in the race to sign Nice star Alassane Pléa, but Spurs should let the Hammers have the Frenchman as he is quite simply not good enough to improve Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team.
The Lilywhites have reached new levels over the past two years under the guidance of the Argentine, and if they are to take that elusive next step, they need to bring in real quality to the club, not just players who will pad out the strength in depth of the squad.
The 25-year-old forward is a good player, that cannot be denied, but his meagre goal return of just 48 in 163 career appearances should serve as a warning for Tottenham.

It could be argued that he would be a sufficient back-up for Harry Kane, but if Spurs truly want to reach the next level, they need to be bringing in a far more prolific goalscorer to keep the England international on his toes.
It is also worth noting that Pléa would also be arriving in England from the far more pedestrian Ligue 1, and there would be no guarantee that he would hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Whilst the reported fee of £26 million will surely appeal to Daniel Levy in today’s market, if Tottenham are to end their 10-year wait for a major trophy this season, they should surely be aiming a lot higher than Pléa.
