Tottenham Hotspur would be wise to look at the young Barcelona forward.

According to the Mirror, threee Premier League clubs are tracking Barcelona teenager Abel Ruiz, and Tottenham Hotspur would be wise to join the race for a player with a £3million release clause.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all said to be paying close attention to the 17-year-old, whose current clause expires in 2019, meaning that all his suitors have a while yet before they miss out on a potential bargain buy.

Barcelona are said to be desperate to keep the young Spaniard at the Nou Camp for the foreseeable future, but while Ruiz is keen to stay where he is, it is claimed he is worried about his first-team opportunities if he remains in his homeland.

That could see a Premier League club swoop in, and while Tottenham are not named as a current option, they could be the ideal club for Ruiz if he does opt for a spell in the Premier League.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has made a habit of giving youth chance, usually with a great deal of success, and a striker of Ruiz’s quality could ultimately go down a storm in North London.

Tottenham have a few promising goal-scorers coming through the ranks with Shayon Harrison, Kazaiah Sterling and Reo Griffiths the pick of the bunch, yet Ruiz could, in time, out-perform them all.

For now the player is making do with B team and under-19 football at Barcelona, but for £3million, he would be a gamble well worth taking for Tottenham, especially with the chance of a first-team breakthrough more likely at Spurs than at any of the Ruiz’s listed English suitors.
