French midfielder Rabiot was linked with a move to Spurs in July.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a central midfielder ended in failure this summer, as Mauricio Pochettino failed to sign a single player. But a long-term target could reportedly be available, and Spurs have a trump card in their favour.
French newspaper L’Equipe have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has rejected the chance to renew his contract with the Ligue 1 champions, after being linked with Spurs in July.
The 23-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Thomas Tuchel’s side, and his long-term future in Paris now remains a doubt with Barcelona also said to be keen.
SPORT claimed midway through July that Tottenham wanted to sign the France international for a cut-price fee of just £26million – a figure well within the reach of Spurs’ financial power.
A January move could be a possibility, and Spurs have a strong connection with the French champions after signing Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier from PSG last season.
Now, they could have a helping hand in any potential bid to land Rabiot, with PSG reportedly interested in signing out-of-favour left-back Danny Rose.

The Sun believes Rose is keen on a move to PSG, rather than joining German outfit Schalke with whom he is also said to be interesting as he remains second fiddle to Ben Davies under Pochettino.
Spurs should look at keeping Rose on side until the January transfer window, and then use PSG’s reported interest in a straight swap deal for Rabiot – a move that would benefit all parties.
