Tottenham Hotspur should have used Anthony Georgiou against Barnsley.

Tottenham Hotspur frustrated supporters by leaving out wonderkid Marcus Edwards in the EFL Cup win over Barnsley.
Mauricio Pochettino felt Edwards was not quite ready for the fixture, but he may have missed a trick by failing to select Anthony Georgiou instead.
Unlike Edwards, Georgiou did feature in Tottenham’s pre-season squad, and managed to really impress.

He was a standout performer when he came off the bench in the defeat to Roma, with his direct play and willingness to go for goal helping him catch the eye, and he was given another chance against Juventus.
Instead Georgiou played in the club’s under-23 match on Monday, starting in the 2-2 draw with Swansea City.
Spurs did not sign any wingers in the transfer window, meaning there is potentially space for their young wide players to break through.

What they need is an opportunity, and the match with Barnsley was the perfect time to give Georgiou another look, and get supporters further enthused.
Spurs are keen to win the Carabao Cup but rotated their squad against the Tykes.
Not making one spot available for Georgiou was a missed opportunity, and it was one that he had arguably earned with his pre-season performances.
