Erik Lamela once again proved his value to Tottenham on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup and he’s got to be in line for his first Premier League start this season against Huddersfield.

The 26-year-old winger is yet to start a game in the league this campaign, but was drafted into the XI in midweek to face Watford in the cup.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side eventually won 6-4 on penalties to progress, but the match was tied together at 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Lamela continued his impressive form recently with another goal for the North London club and turned in a display that surely has to make it impossible for manager Pochettino to leave him out.

The Argentinian wide man offers the team a real spark in the final third with his directness on the ball and his vision.

He has managed three goals in his last four games in all competitions and Pochettino needs to reward him by handing him a start on Saturday during the trip to Huddersfield in the league.

Spurs do of course have a number of attacking talents at their disposal that can’t all fit into the same team, but Lamela needs to be involved during a purple patch of form.

He looks to have completely recovered from a long-term injury and it’s brilliant news for supporters that he’s back to his best.

The left-footed ace has developed into a real fan favourite during his five-year spell with the club and they may need him to help them bounce back from an average start to this campaign.
