Will Bournemouth really sell defenders to both Aston Villa and Tottenham?

Tottenham Hotspur are chasing a transfer for Bournemouth star Nathan Ake, The Sun report.

The Cherries ace is reportedly value at £40 million, a fee which could still prove to be terrific value for the 24-year-old.

One of the problems facing Tottenham is Bournemouth are already looking at selling their top back-up to Ake.

Centre-back Tyrone Mings had a terrific spell out on loan at Aston Villa and The Birmingham Mail has claimed he is keen on joining them permanently amid a £15 million planned move from the newly promoted club.

It would make little sense at all for Bournemouth to sell both Mings and Ake.

Mings’ desire to leave, and role on the fringes of the team, means it makes sense for them to cash in.

Bournemouth would be taking a major risk by then selling Ake to Tottenham too, leaving them with plenty of money, but in need of landing two top defenders.

Making a move at the start of the transfer window would work in Tottenham’s favour, but their chances are complicated by Villa’s pursuit of Mings.

Ake would be an excellent addition for Tottenham. There just isn’t a convincing case for Bournemouth to sell.
