Tottenham Hotspur should join the race for Andreas Pereira.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is somewhat known for bizarrely casting young players aside, as we saw with Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial last season.
Shaw and Martial have worked their way back into the picture at Old Trafford, but thinks seem a little bleaker for midfielder Andreas Pereira, who looks set to leave in 2019.
The Brazilian playmaker returned from a loan spell at Valencia to try and force his way into the United team, and started the first two games of the season in a holding midfield role.
However, he was substituted at half time in the second game of the season against Brighton, and has played just 21 minutes of Premier League football since that substitution at the Amex Stadium.
Pereira, 22, is out of contract at the end of the season, and whilst United are likely to activate a one-year option on his deal, he looks set to move on – and UOL Esporte in Brazil report that Arsenal and Chelsea are making calls about a deal.
In that case, Tottenham Hotspur should join their London rivals in the race for Pereira’s signature, with the Red Devils potentially open to selling Pereira even to a direct Premier League rival given his lack of football this season.
Pereira has untapped potential and still has his best years ahead of him, meaning that playing under a progressive coach who loves to develop young players in Mauricio Pochettino could be ideal rather than the somewhat stifling atmosphere for Pereira under Mourinho.
Capable of playing centrally, out wide or as a playmaker, Pereira’s versatility in midfielder would be ideal for Spurs, as they need more options in those areas, and Pereira presents an ideal one.
Pereira shouldn’t break the bank either, and as Tottenham are now seemingly the best team in London, they should certainly battle Arsenal and Chelsea for a misused talent like Pereira.
