Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Real Madrid midfielder.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet El Desmarque, Tottenham are leading the race to sign Real Madrid ace Dani Ceballos, but is he really the type of player Mauricio Pochettino needs?
The 22-year-old playmaker joined Madrid from Real Betis in the summer of 2017, but he has hardly impressed at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ceballos is a decent footballer, but his career stats of 12 goals and 11 assists in 161 career appearances really are underwhelming at the very least.
El Desmarque claims that Tottenham are prepared to spend anywhere between €40-50 million (£35-44 million) in order to sign the Madrid ace this summer, and that really does seem to be an extortionate amount for someone whose influence in the final third leaves a lot to be desired.
This summer’s transfer window will be a vitally important one for Spurs and Pochettino, and the business done by the Argentine could end up having a huge bearing on their chances of achieving glory over the next few years.

Toby Alderweireld, Fernando Llorente and Christian Eriksen have all been linked with exits from Tottenham this summer (London Evening Standard), so Pochettino might just be better served in spending the bulk of his summer budget on a centre-back, a centre- forward and an attacking number 10 type midfielder.
There is surely better value to be had out there for Spurs. £44 million on Ceballos would be a strange move from the usually frugal Daniel Levy, and he really would be an underwhelming signing for the north London outfit.
