Gabby Agbonlahor has told Tottenham Hotspur to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager, with Arne Slot to stay at Feyenoord.

The 44-year-old was seemingly Daniel Levy’s ‘top target’ to be Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager, but in the world of Spurs, it can change at any moment and so it has.

Well, the news coming through on Thursday morning is that Arne Slot will stay at Feyenoord, as a result, Agbonlahor has told Spurs to ‘give a manager likes Julian Nagelsmann the project’, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (25/05/23 at 8:20 am).

Whether Slot has used Spurs, in order to get a better deal at the Dutch champions or he just simply doesn’t believe in the London side’s project, only he will know.

But one thing that the Tottneham faithful have seen before is Levy and Co. making a mess of bringing in a new manager, the Nuno Espirito Santo saga of 2021 is about to repeat itself, it seems.

Well, in order to squash any issues and for Spurs to get the job done, Agbonlahor urged those in the club’s boardroom to give someone like Nagelsmann what he wants.

“Tottenham fans will be so frustrated at this news,” said Agbonlahor. “They don’t want to see a manager get appointed mid-July or end of July.

“Then they have an excuse. ‘Oh, I didn’t have a full pre-season with the players. That’s why we are struggling this season. I need a full pre-season’.

“This manager should be appointed right at the end of this season, so he has got the time to get the players out he wants. Sort the Harry Kane situation out. Does he want Lloris? Spurs fans must be so frustrated.

“Just give a manager like Nagelsmann the project. Say ‘I will let you get the sporting director. You get the players you want in’. It’s just a bit of a shambles, at the moment.”

TOTTENHAM’S NEXT MANAGER – PRESSURE WILL NOW MOUNT ON DANIEL LEVY

As mentioned above, the issue with Spurs is that they have been here before, so the already annoyed, angry, frustrated and morale-sapped fans, are going to have very low patience.

Added to that, someone like Levy is already under fire from the fans, well the shots are going to rain down on him at serious speed now.

If this is another Nuno Espirito Santo-like summer for Spurs, then the fans better strap themselves in because, not only could they struggle to appoint a new manager, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Harry Kane heads for the exit door.
