Tottenham Hotspur sold the striker to Monterrey yesterday for a fee reported to be worth £10 million.
According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham managed to sell Vincent Janssen to Mexican side Monterrey for £10 million, and that represents outstanding business for the north London outfit.
The Dutchman joined Spurs from AZ Alkmaar for around £17 million (BBC Sport) in the summer of 2016 on the back of a sensational season in Holland.
Janssen, 25, struggled badly at Tottenham, however, scoring just six goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.
The Holland international found it hard to live with the pace and intensity of the English game, and he really has looked like a fish out of water in north London.
The Spurs striker’s struggles over the past few years would surely have put off many potential buyers, but according to the Sun, Daniel Levy has managed to sell him to Monterrey for an incredible £10 million.
The Tottenham chairman is renowned for his hard-nosed negotiating skills, but selling the 25-year-old for eight figures might just be his best work yet.
Spurs have already spent big this summer, bringing in Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and Jack Clarke from Leeds United.
The north London outfit also want to bring in Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, according to the Daily Star.
And whilst they would all represent extremely impressive business for Tottenham, selling Janssen for £10 million would surely take the biscuit.
Daniel Levy has proven once again that he is one of the best negotiators in world football, and many Spurs fans might just be shocked to see the Dutchman leave for such a hefty fee.
