Tottenham reportedly turned down Aymeric Laporte in Manchester City’s attempt to sign Harry Kane earlier in the window.
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Spurs were not keen on accepting a player from City as a way to lower the transfer fee for Kane.
Laporte, as well as Gabriel Jesus, were both offered and rejected by Tottenham.
City’s interest is no secret this transfer window with Pep Guardiola eager to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
With the Premier League champions already signing Jack Grealish for a Premier League record, adding the Tottenham star could financially be a struggle.
Romano said: “If, maybe, Tottenham and Manchester City are doing the Kane deal, Gabriel Jesus has always been one of the players offered from Manchester City.

“They also offered Laporte, but Tottenham said no to both players. Let’s see what happens in the coming days”
Tottenham are crazy to reject Laporte
Indeed, it is surprising that Spurs would reject the chance to sign Laporte given what Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici are targeting this window.
The duo are eager to add a second central defender to the side following the signing of Cristian Romero.

And the City centre-back would have been perfect for what Tottenham are looking for.
A £54m signing back in 2018 according to BBC Sport, Laporte is one of the top defenders in the Premier League. And last season the Spanish international was demoted to the bench at City following the form of John Stones.
With Spurs needing a defender, the club could have made a mistake in rejecting the chance to sign Laporte, who could have been perfect for the north London side.
