The Reds are back at the top of the Premier League table following their 3-1 win over Southampton on Friday night.

Ryan Mason, Tottenham Hotspur coach looks on prior to the FA Youth Cup Third Round match between Millwall and Tottenham Hotspur at The Den on December 17, 2018 in London, England.

Ryan Mason took to Twitter on Friday night to criticise the officiating during the Premier League game between Southampton and Liverpool at St Mary’s Stadium.

The Tottenham Hotspur coach and retired player deemed one of the Reds’ goals offside, but later on appeared to suggest that they should have won a penalty.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges fell behind early on at Southampton when Shane Long was left unmarked in the box to fire home the opening goal, much to the home contingent’s delight.

The Reds, however, managed to draw level in the 36th minute when Naby Keita headed home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross, but Mohamed Salah appeared to be standing in an offside position as he got involved in the action.

Later on in the game, as Liverpool were searching for a winner, Keita went to ground following an apparent clip by Maya Yoshida, but referee Paul Tierney did not award a penalty, though in the end the visitors ran out 3-1 winners thanks to two late goals.

Mason, whose former side were battling with Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title earlier this season, posted the following tweets during the game:

Some Tottenham and Liverpool fans responded to him on the social media platform:
