Rodrigo Bentancur has celebrated 50 Uruguay caps and received a message of support from Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero.
We’re now into the second half of the international break and Premier League action is in sight once again.
These breaks are never the most popular times in the football calendar, even with the World Cup in Qatar on the horizon.
Teams are playing their final games ahead of the tournament and Uruguay played their penultimate game – but suffered a defeat.

Rodrigo Bentancur has celebrated 50 Uruguay caps
Uruguay travelled to Austria to take on Iran in a friendly as they prepare to take on South Korea, Portugal and Ghana at the World Cup.
Tomorrow’s friendly with Canada is Uruguay’s final game, but losing to Iran is far from ideal.
Mehdi Taremi bagged the only goal of the game for Iran, leaving manager Diego Alonso with some decisions to make.
This was a strong Uruguay side too; Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez, Federico Valverde and Ronald Araujo were all in the starting lineup.
So was Tottenham ace Bentancur as he joined Valverde and Matias Vecino in the heart of Uruguay’s midfield.
It wasn’t exactly an ideal game for Bentancur; a booking and a defeat is never what any player wants.
This was a big day for Bentancur though as featuring against Iran brought up cap number 50 in a Uruguay shirt.
A regular ever since breaking into the squad in 2017, Bentancur likely has many more caps to come – though he has a long way to go if he’s going to catch Diego Godin on 159 caps.
Bentancur took to Instagram to celebrate this moment, admitting that he is proud to have reached such a milestone.
Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero offered just a three-word response, stating ‘sos un toro’ – or, in English, ‘you are a bull’.
Many Tottenham fans would suggest that Bentancur is a little more elegant than a bull through the middle of the park, but it’s not the worst comparison after his goal against Leicester City.
In terms of attitude and running power though, maybe Romero has a point.
At just 25, there is so much more to come from Bentancur and Tottenham fans will be looking for him to shine at the World Cup in November.
