According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have been looking into a deal for Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels.
It’s claimed that Spurs are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, but Nick Pope may prove to be too expensive.
That means Tottenham are looking to the European market, and have targeted Casteels along with Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Casteels, 28, has been one of the Bundesliga’s top goalkeepers during his time with Wolfsburg, racking up almost 200 appearances for the club.
What’s interesting is that the Belgian international could have made a move to North London back in 2018 – but with Arsenal rather than Spurs.
The Sun reported that Sven Mislintat had picked out Casteels as a potential goalkeeping addition, having been impressed with his displays in Germany.

Instead, Mislintat went on to sign a different Bundesliga goalkeeper, snapping up Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen as he was picked ahead of Casteels.
Casteels could now end up joining Leno in London, and battling him in Arsenal v Tottenham derbies; quite the twist of fate.
