Tottenham Hotspur are renowned for their scouring of the Football League for new talent, which has seen them land the likes of Dele Alli in the past. Their latest hunt has reportedly seen them eye Ipswich Town talent Andre Dozzell.

The Daily Mirror has claimed Spurs and Arsenal are interested in the 19-year-old central midfielder, after breaking into the Ipswich first team and clocking up 13 senior appearances for the Tractor Boys.

But Spurs must consider their own youth prospects before adding to their Under-23 side, and placing their faith in impressive young star Luke Amos despite his recent season-ending injury may prove beneficial for the north Londoners.

England youth international Amos, 21, suffered a long-term knee injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until this time next year – but he boasts all the kind of talent that Dozzell possesses.

Both central midfielders, Amos made his Premier League debut for Spurs as a late substitute against Newcastle on the opening day of the season and impressed for Spurs throughout pre-season.

Giving him a chance to rediscover his best form and coming back to the Spurs fold after his injury, rather than signing Dozzell, would show their faith in him and give Amos the determination and trust to kick on and maximise his potential.

With a contract until the summer of 2021, Spurs should seriously consider at overlooking Dozzell and be patient with youngster Amos despite his season-ending injury.
