Tottenham are reportedly pursuing a cut-price move for Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry despite his Arsenal past. A player, that Spurs icon Jurgen Klinsmann claimed can “tear anyone apart” back in 2019.

Gnabry, 26, has been a revelation at Bayern since he joined the German champions from Werder Bremen in 2017. He left Arsenal for Bremen a year prior to that, and spent his first season at Bayern on loan at Hoffenheim.

In his four proper seasons at the club, he has clocked up 168 appearances for Bayern – having a hand in 103 goals, scoring 63 and creating 40. Gnabry’s future is in doubt, though. His contract ends in 2023.

The Star claims Tottenham are keen to strike a cut-price move for Gnabry, even if he is demanding an enormous £250,000 a week. Tottenham legend Klinsmann is a massive fan, of his old club’s winger.

“We have with Serge Gnabry, who has a gigantic year behind him. And with Leroy Sane two mega-offensive forces that would tear everyone [apart],” Klinsmann told Goal in 2019, when asked about Gnabry and Sane.

Klinsmann on Gnabry: Could Tottenham sign ex-Arsenal man?

Forgetting his past, Gnabry is a top player and would improve Tottenham. Despite the form of Dejan Kulusevski, a front three of Gnabry, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane would be lethal. Kulusevski can play wing-back.

But the chances of Gnabry moving to Spurs looks unlikely. He is a player that is renowned for his Arsenal allegiance and even Tweeted North London is Red, when Bayern beat Spurs in the Champions League.

A move to the bitterest of rivals, especially at the moment given the race for top four, is enormously unlikely. Money talks, though.
