Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer this summer, as he continues to shine in Germany. A player, that earned huge praise from Austria teammate Marko Arnautovic in 2019.

Laimer, 24, has clocked up 146 appearances for Leipzig since joining the club in the summer of 2017 – becoming renowned for his incredible work rate in midfield. Dogged determination, unrelenting stamina and fitness.

But Laimer – who has also become a goal threat this season, scoring five times – is out of contract in June 2023 and this summer represents the last chance Leipzig have to get a good price for his services.

That is, of course, unless he signs a new deal with Leipzig. Bild report that Tottenham and Manchester United are interested in the 20-time Austria international – a player ex-West Ham man Arnautovic raved about in 2019.

After a Euro 2020 qualifying win over North Macedonia, Arnautovic said – as quoted by the Bundesliga site: “I don’t know what he ate or had to drink beforehand. To cover that amount of ground is crazy. He has a huge future.”

Arnautovic on Laimer: Perfect for Conte’s Tottenham midfield

Conte uses a 3-4-3 system that incorporates two defensive-minded midfielders with enormous work rate, but combined with the technical ability with the ball at his feet – and passing range, both long and short.

Laimer has it all in abundance, as well as the new ability to score a goal here and there. He has everything Conte wants in a midfielder. Would he start? Perhaps not, but Spurs will be in Europe next term and need depth.
