According to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca, Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in River Plate striker Lucas Alario.

The 23-year-old has recently signed a new contract with the Argentine side until the summer of 2020, but that has seemingly not put off Spurs and other interested parties, who now know that it will take a bid of £15.2million to get their man.

That equates to €18million, which is said to be the player’s new release clause after he put to paper on a fresh contract.

River Plate's Lucas Alario in action

Alario has been linked with Tottenham for a while, with the London Evening Standard recently reporting that the young forward dreams of playing in Europe in the future.

However, no move was forthcoming in the summer transfer window and his fresh contract suggests River Plate are well aware of the increased interest in their player.

Tottenham signed forward Vincent Janssen in the previous transfer window yet with only the Dutchman and Harry Kane as experienced forwards it would be no surprise if another out-and-out striker was brought in either in January or next summer.

Alario certainly fits the bill after scoring 19 goals in 39 matches for River Plate to date, including two in three so far this season.
