According to Sport1 in Germany, Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Greuther Furth winger Jamie Leweling this summer.

It’s claimed that Schalke want to sign Leweling this summer, viewing him as a cheap addition. However, they’ll face major competition for his signature.

The report states that Italian duo AC Milan and Udinese are keen, as are Premier League pair Tottenham and Watford.

Agent Florian Goll has offered his view, suggesting that Leweling is happy with Furth. Still, Goll isn’t surprised by the interest, and wants him to continue to develop when the German season resumes.

“The fact is that the player feels at home in Fürth,” said Goll. “Jamie knows exactly what he owes to the club and the coach. He works hard on himself every day and is excited for the restart. It is clear that a boy with the profile of Jamie and the performance he has shown so far does not go undetected. That is the way it is in our industry, but we do well to let the boy continue to develop carefree,” he added.

Leweling, 19, previously spent five on the books at Nurnberg. In 2017, he headed to Furth, and made his professional debut for the club last summer.

A strong and quick winger at 6ft tall, Leweling has impressed this term with three goals and one assist in just 14 league games. It may only be the second tier of German football, but that’s impressive for a rookie.

With so many clubs interested, it will be difficult for Furth to keep their star teenager. It seem unlikely that Tottenham would view him as a first-team option right now, and he could face a similar fate to Jack Clarke.

Clarke was another talented young winger signed by Spurs last summer, but has been loaned out twice already. Leweling could be one for the future, and he’s a name to keep an eye on amid these new reports.
