Earlier this season, Thomas Tuchel admitted his regret at Chelsea deciding to cash in on Tino Livramento – selling him to Southampton. He has since sparkled down south and now, Tottenham want to sign the right-sided flyer.
Livramento, 19, joined Southampton last summer from Chelsea in a bargain deal worth just £5million. It was a risky one from Southampton, given that Livramento had never played senior football at Chelsea – before his move.
But the £5m price tag convinced Southampton to move and it has paid off. As we enter the last quarter of the 2021-22 campaign, Livramento has been a revelation for Southampton under the highly-rated Ralph Hasenhuttl.
CalcioMercato now claim that Tottenham want Livramento and are willing to offer Harry Winks or Cameron Carter-Vickers in return. Speaking about his Chelsea exit in October, Tuchel said he regrets Livramento’s exit.
“He was highly-rated, we did everything to keep him here, to show him his future and his possibilities to compete for a position in our team,” Tuchel said, as per The Metro. “He decided to go, that was his decision.
“You sometimes have to accept that decision. There was a big chance for him to make it all the way. He decided to go and it’s fair enough, we wish him all the best. He decided to go another way and fight for a place.”
Tuchel on Livramento: What is a fair price for Tottenham to pay?
Livramento was bought for £5million. A bargain, given the talent and performances he has shown for Southampton this season. But it must be remembered that he has only played 26 games for the Saints, so far.
He is still enormously raw at times, inexperienced and it will take time for him to become the overall package. Southampton are a selling club and there is the potential for mass resale value. He could easily get £30million.
But with Tottenham looking to include the likes of Carter-Vickers or Winks, they could easily bring that price down. It depends if Southampton and Spurs can agree on a price tag for either player – if included.
