Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are defending Serge Aurier.

The Ivory Coast international is being investigated by Spurs after reportedly breaching lockdown rules in the United Kingdom for a third time since the global health emergency began.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are ‘exasperated’ by this latest breach, after posting a photo on Instagram of himself getting a haircut – a violation of the government guidelines to help contain the spread of the virus.

Aurier, who joined Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain, came out swinging with an Instagram post.

He wrote: “My hairdresser is negative and me too so stop talking in a vaccum and put on masks and glove when you come to take pictures at the training centre its part of the rules too.”

It’s unclear whether Aurier is accusing Tottenham fans or the media of hypocrisy.

But he’s clearly on the defensive, though some fans of the North London club can see the rationale in his post. Here’s how they responded on Twitter:

Even without these transgressions, Aurier was in danger of being sold by Spurs this summer anyway.

He has had his moments in Jose Mourinho’s brief time in charge so far, but overall he isn’t good enough of a right-back to help Tottenham get to where they want to get to.
