Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has told Sevilla winger Bryan Gil to join him in North London – and it’s about to happen.

That’s according to The Athletic, who report that Gil sounded out Reguilon for advice about joining Tottenham having been at Sevilla together.

Reguilon is understood to have told Gil to join Spurs, and they could now link up down Tottenham’s left flank under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Gil has agreed terms with Tottenham and is now on the verge of reuniting with Reguilon.

Tottenham will be paying €25million (£21.5million) to sign Gil whilst sending wide man Erik Lamela to Sevilla as part of the deal.

Gil has been likened to Jack Grealish, and looks to have a huge future ahead of him after a superb loan spell at Eibar last season.

The 20-year-old hit four goals and four assists at Eibar and already has five caps for Spain to his name.

This look to be a hugely exciting move for Tottenham, getting younger in a key position whilst backing Nuno in the process.

Reguilon’s role in the deal may well have been key given how he recommended the move, and the pair must be excited to join forces in North London.
