Tottenham Hotspur wanted Randal Kolo Muani and the Eintracht Frankfurt ace is now in blistering form over in Germany.

Having a striker like Harry Kane can be a blessing and a curse – as Tottenham have found out.

On the one hand, Kane coming through the youth and becoming a consistent goalscorer is the dream, especially considering how much regular goalscorers cost.

On the other hand, finding strikers who are happy to come in and sit behind a clear number one striker – and still have the quality to come into the first team when needed – is a difficult task.

Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente sum that up, failing to really make a huge impact in the Premier League.

Tottenham do now have their second striker in Richarlison, whose versatility has been simply perfect for Spurs, but other options were on Fabio Paratici’s wish list.

Tottenham Hotspur wanted Randal Kolo Muani

One of the names on the radar was Randal Kolo Muani.

Kolo Muani was showing real promise with Nantes last season, ending the campaign with 12 goals and four assists.

The problem for Nantes was that Kolo Muani was in the final year of his contract and was able to walk away at the end of the season.

Back in October, reports from France suggested that Paratici had met with Kolo Muani’s representatives to discuss a move to Tottenham.

In the end, Tottenham paid up big money for Richarlison whilst Kolo Muani headed off to Germany, joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer.

So how is Kolo Muani faring now?

Well, the 23-year-old has been simply sensational in the Bundesliga, already notching two goals and four assists in just five appearances for Frankfurt.

Saturday’s 4-0 win over RB Leipzig saw Kolo Muani notch two assists, with the Frenchman now almost undroppable for Oliver Glasner.

Kolo Muani’s versatility has been on show too, playing as a striker, off the striker and even on the right flank for Frankfurt.

Kolo Muani looks like an absolute bargain on a free transfer and another big move will be on the horizon if he continues this form.

Tottenham will be very happy with Richarlison, but they may still have one eye on Kolo Muani with a view to a future deal for him.
