Jamie O’Hara has slammed Davinson Sanchez and stated that he is a ‘bang average’ player, as he also questioned how Tottenham Hotspur managed to pay £42 million for the centre-back.
With Cristian Romero injured, Sanchez came into the starting XI that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday and O’Hara says Sanchez ‘plays with wellies’ and not football boots.
Once upon a time, Sanchez was Tottenham’s club-record transfer because in 2017 they paid Ajax £42 million (Guardian) for the 26-year-old.

Prior to the weekend, Sanchez had started four other Premier League games, including their 1-1 draw at West Ham United and 6-2 win against Leicester City.
Antonio Conte has made it clear that the Colombian international is a back-up option because he has only played 12 minutes of football in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, when discussing Tottenham’s latest defeat ahead of their crucial Champions League tie against Sporting Lisbon, O’Hara didn’t hold back on his criticism of Sanchez.
“Romero gets injured, then you have to play Sanchez,” said O’Hara. “I don’t know what Sanchez is playing at. For me, how we paid £45 million (fee reported at £42 million) for him, I will never know.
“He’s just an accident waiting to happen. I don’t know what he puts in his boot bag, but they aren’t football boots because he is playing with wellies on. Honestly, it’s ridiculous how bang average he is.”

ANOTHER MANAGER, MORE QUESTIONS OF SANCHEZ
The issue facing Sanchez is that he was signed when Mauricio Pochettino was in the dugout and he showcased a number of error-prone performances during his time on the pitch.
Even though that was a successful period under Pochettino, he was one player that never really got going.
That continued when the more defensive-minded Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo were at Hotspur Way and it’s not exactly getting any better under Conte.
Given that the Italian is asking for more money to be spent so he can improve those behind his starting XI, well, it tells you everything you need to know about those on the bench.
