Paris Saint-Germain tried to offer up midfielder Danilo Pereira to Tottenham Hotspur in a swap deal for Tanguy Ndombele, but Spurs aren’t interested.
That’s according to a report from Foot Mercato, who claim that Pereira was one of the players PSG offered up to Tottenham.
Julian Draxler, Leandro Paredes and Ander Herrera were offered, which have been widely reported this week.
Pereira is a new claim though, with PSG seemingly having a number of expendable midfielders at their disposal in a swap for Ndombele.
PSG have been struggling to come up with an offer to satisfy Tottenham in their pursuit of signing Ndombele.
The Frenchman is unwanted at Tottenham having failed to convince Antonio Conte, but his huge wages are a major problem.
Add in that Tottenham would like to sell Ndombele rather than loan him out and there are real doubts that he will actually leave before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Tottenham don’t seem to be interested in any swap deals despite the fact they’re struggling for signings at the moment.
Pereira, 30, is predominantly a holding midfield player but he has also played at centre back for Paris Saint-Germain.
Formerly of Parma and Maritimo, Pereira made more than 200 appearances for Porto before heading onto PSG in 2020.
Pereira has also racked up more than 50 caps for Portugal, proving to be a solid if unspectacular performer for club and country.
A huge presence at 6ft 2in tall, Pereira was even compared to former Arsenal hero Patrick Vieira by Abel Xavier.
That sounds great, but Pereira will turn 31 just a month into next season and Tottenham may want a more long-term option in midfield.
With four midfielders now turned down, it looks like Tottenham have made it clear there will be no swap deals for Ndombele.
There are just a few days of the window left now, and time is running out for Ndombele to get out of Tottenham.
