Tottenham youngster Shayon Harrison thrilled to join Yeovil.

There was a little surprise last week as Tottenham Hotspur decided to let Shayon Harrison leave the club on loan to join Yeovil Town.

Harrison is Tottenham’s third choice striker, with second choice Vincent Janssen struggling to convince that he is up to the task.

With a FA Cup game against Wycombe this weekend, the game could have been an ideal chance for him to make his first start, after making his debut in the EFL Cup earlier this season, but Harrison is happy with his move to Yeovil, labelling it ‘perfect’.

Speaking to the Glovers’ official website, Harrison said he wanted to emulate Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend, who had each had spells at Yeovil before establishing themselves at Spurs and winning England caps, even if they have since moved on.

He said: “I definitely think it’s the perfect move for me with all those lads going on to play for their country and in the Premier League, so it’s definitely a fantastic move for me.”

Harrison came off the bench at the weekend in the 2-2 draw at Blackpool, and said he is happy to play in more than one position, stating: “He’s allowed me to play with a lot of freedom which is all I can ask for. I’m definitely going to improve.

“Through the middle or on the right, I’m familiar with both positions. I’ll be able to adapt quickly to that and push on from there.”

Yeovil are currently in 16th place in League Two, and have not won a game in the division since beating Crawley Town 5-0 back on December 3.
