With Mauricio Pochettino turning Tottenham Hotspur into one of the best teams in England during his near-three years in charge at White Hart Lane, there won’t be many Spurs fans who will have anything but the utmost respect and appreciation of the Argentine.
Only yesterday he poured cold water on rumours of a switch to Barcelona by comparing it to the ‘impossible’ chance that he would even dream of managing Arsenal, having come to love and support the Lilywhites (BBC Sport).
And the latest photo of Tottenham training, published by the official Spurs Twitter account, emphasises just how positive and encouraging his relationship is with the playing staff too.
Seen joking with the club’s dominant Belgian star Mousa Dembele, it is easy to see why Pochettino has been able to get more out of these players than any other Tottenham boss. The 29-year-old in particular is fulfilling his promise and has become one of the league’s very best central midfielders over the last couple of seasons under the former Southampton manager.
Pictures like this underline the team spirit currently at the club, and indicate why Pochettino is the man to lead Spurs onto bigger and better things.
In the short term, that will be a tough away game with Burnley on Saturday, with an FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea coming later this month.
In the long term, that could be a first league title since the 1960s, playing in a spectacular new stadium.
