Tottenham have now posted an exciting announcement regarding Will Lankshear – who was released by Arsenal in 2021.

The 18-year-old has been a standout in the academy for Spurs ever since the Gunners let him go, with some even making the slightly dramatic comparison to Harry Kane, who was also released by Arsenal before shining in N17.

Lankshear has scored four goals in five Under-18 Premier League appearances this season, while also providing two assists, and Tottenham have now announced some positive news about the teenager.

What’s the story?

Well, Tottenham have revealed that Lankshear has now signed a new contract.

The English wonderkid – who Tottenham signed from Sheffield United for £2m in August – has now penned a professional contract in north London, as a reward for his excellent progress.

Football London have reported that Lankshear has already trained with the first-team at Hotspur Way after impressing coaches, and it can be assumed that he performed well following the news of his contract.

The teenager and his father are said to be huge Tottenham fans, so it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for him at his boyhood club.

Tottenham must appoint someone who uses Will Lankshear and others

In our view, Daniel Levy has to appoint a manager who acknowledges the young talent at Tottenham.

In Lankshear, Alfie Devine, Romaine Mundle, Mikey Moore and many others, Spurs have a fantastic academy full of promise.

Unfortunately, the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have overlooked the youth ranks in recent years to focus on a short-term approach, which is not good for prospects such as Lankshear.

Hopefully, Levy finds a manager brave enough to give opportunities to those excelling in the academy, such as Julian Nagelsmann or Graham Potter – if not, Tottenham risk losing their best prodigies.
