The Spurs boss will reportedly be presented with the Titular Prize at the Bilbao International Football Summit next month
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to be handed an award at the 2019 Bilbao International Football Summit next month, according to a report.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo says the Spurs boss will be awarded the Titular Prize at the summit for “consolidating in the last five years a competitive project at the head of the London team and placing it among the best in the world”.
The Titular Awards, according to the promoters, have been set up with the aim of recognising the value and importance of continuity and progression in sports projects, and the ceremony, on 23 May, is also expected to be attended by the likes of Andre Villas Boas and Aitor Karanka.
Pochettino spent much a significant amount of his football career – playing and coaching in Spain before taking the reins at Southampton in January 2013, and in May 2014, was unveiled as Tottenham boss on an initial five-year contract, replacing Tim Sherwood, who was dismissed earlier that month.
The rest, as they say, is history, as the Argentine has gone on to Spurs into a side regularly challenging for the Premier League title, reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League and overall doing significantly better than Arsenal in recent years.
Tottenham currently sit third in the Premier League table, with three fixtures left to play, and are three points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea and a further point above bitter North London rivals Arsenal.
Pochettino’s charges, who will face Ajax in the semi-finals of the Champions League, return to action in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff, against West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
