Spurs failed to beat PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday evening.
Christian Eriksen has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he remains injury free after making his first start against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, since September 22.
The 26-year-old has been suffering from a stomach problem for the last month, but made his eventual recovery for just one minute in a cameo role during the 1-0 win over West Ham at the weekend.
The former Ajax star managed the entire 90 minutes against PSV, providing the assist for Harry Kane’s header as Spurs fialed to hold onto what would have been a crucial three points against the Dutch side.
After the match, Eriksen told Spurs’ official website that he is feeling fit despite featuring for the entire 90 minutes, something Mauricio Pochettino surely did not want to do – but had his hands tied after Hugo Lloris’ red card.
“I felt confident going into the game,” Eriksen said. “It finished with a bad last touch at the end, but I was happy to be back. It’s been a few weeks recovering and training and trying to get back to fitness, but I felt good.”
Spurs now have little chance of qualifying for the knockout stage of the Champions League, with Barcelona on nine points, Inter Milan on six and PSV on one. Third place qualifies for the Europa League.
Eriksen is likely to start on Monday night, as Spurs go up against Manchester City at Wembley in a match that could see Spurs break into the top four with a win.
