Tottenham Hotspur recorded their third win in the opening five games of the new Premier League by beating Sunderland 1-0 on Sunday evening.
After a mixed week which saw Spurs thrash Stoke City 4-0 but lose 2-1 to Monaco in the Champions League, manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen to see his players respond against struggling Sunderland.

He got the response he wanted, as Tottenham dominated the game from start to finish, racking up 31 shots on goal and a whopping 74% of possession – but they only found the net once.
Harry Kane’s second half goal after Sunderland failed to clear a cross handed Tottenham a 1-0 victory, and continued their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Tottenham aren’t even at their best yet, which makes their unbeaten start even more impressive, and players took to Twitter after Sunday’s game to send messages to supporters.
Notably, midfielder Moussa Sissoko reacted after making his first start for the club, thanking the fans for creating a great atmosphere throughout the game.
Mousa Dembele, who was playing his first Premier League game of the season following a suspension, also praised Tottenham fans as ‘the best’, with Victor Wanyama claiming it was a great team performance from Spurs.
