Speaking on Brew’s City ‘The Social’, in partnership with SPORTSbible, Tottenham goalkeeper Joe Hart has dismissed any thought that he has beef with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Whilst Hart currently finds himself as a back-up keeper at Tottenham, he was once Man City’s main guy and England’s number one.
Many feel his unfortunate downfall started when Guardiola was appointed Man City boss in 2016 because he made it clear that the popular Englishman wasn’t going to be a part of his plans.
That initial climb up the stairs to success is tough enough, but it’s even tougher when you have to go up a second time, and as Hart eluded to in his interview, he is trying everything in his fibre to get back to his best again.
“It just so happened that someone came to the club that I was playing well at and was well-established at,” said Hart.”And they had a different idea for the club that didn’t involve me.
“So, what?! Football’s a big game. There are lots of teams to go and play for. My love and passion for Manchester City will never change. The club and the people. My football had to go elsewhere. I had to dig in and start again. I’ve done that before and I’ll do it again.
On whether there is some beef with Guardiola: “Come on. We are all grown-ups. He’s got a job to do. I have got a job to do. Football isn’t set-up to work for me. Just as it isn’t set-up to work for him.
“He wanted to do something. He was in charge. All the power was with him and it didn’t fit me in that plan, so what? I will go elsewhere.”

The fact that a trophy-laden coach in Jose Mourinho opted to sign Hart speaks volumes because he hasn’t just purchased him for what he can do on the field of play, but also what he brings off the pitch.
Hart is a proven Premier League winner, with an infectious personality and a leader of men, so that type of character was very much-needed at Spurs, where trophies have been hard to come by in recent times.
Whilst Hart has only featured in Europa League games this term, he would have no doubt have made a difference to that dressing room already and played his part, away from the cameras, in the club sitting top of the pile in the Premier League.
