Emmanuel Adebayor has been speaking following his return to the Tottenham Hotspur first-team.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Emmanuel Adebayor has been speaking about his future in an interview published by ITV.
The Togo forward has made 13 appearances for Spurs this season and made his first appearance since returning from special leave as a second-half substitute against Sunderland on Saturday.
With his current contract expiring in the summer Tottenham must either sell the player this month or lose him for nothing in the close-season, but the player’s latest comments suggest there is only one option there.
When asked if he would remain at Tottenham for the rest of the season, the 30-year-old said, “Obviously, yeah, otherwise I would have come out and said I want to leave.
“I am a player that is not afraid to face the reality that if I have to leave, I will leave. At the moment I am at the club, so I am very happy to be here.”
Tottenham are in need of a quality new striker to play alongside the promising Harry Kane, but midway through a campaign it is always difficult to find value in a transfer market that only really springs to life in the summer.
As a result, it would be no surprise if Adebayor was kept and given chances in the interim, before the next chapter of his always-interesting career begins.
