Eric Dier has celebrated reaching his 250th appearance for Tottenham Hotspur on Instagram.

Dier reached the landmark on Sunday, as Tottenham managed to pick up a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

And Jan Vertonghen and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice were among the players who responded to Dier’s Instagram post.

Dier has now been with Tottenham since 2014, after signing as a youngster from Sporting Lisbon.

The England international’s 250th appearance was a very strong one, as he impressed in the heart of Tottenham’s defence.

Ian Wright spoke very positively about Dier on Match of the Day 2, saying: “His [Dier’s] defensive awareness today was brilliant and just what they needed. They needed to dig in.

“People will say he should be in those positions, but it’s different when you’re in the game.

“You see Reguilon there, who had another brilliant game, getting forward, but he was across there to cover him. He was in the right place and the right time today, every single time.”

Dier has now helped Tottenham keep clean sheets in two of their last three matches, and appears to be one of Mourinho’s most trusted defenders.

Dier is currently away on international duty with England over the next fortnight.
