Ben Davies has told Sky Sports News (07/10/20 at 2:50 pm) that he would be ‘delighted’ if Tottenham signed his fellow countryman Joe Rodon this summer.

Sky Sports have reported that Spurs have held talks with Swansea City about signing the 22-year-old centre-back before October 16 domestic window slams shut.

It is said that a deal between £7-18 million is being discussed for the Wales international, who is currently on national duty alongside Davies, with the duo set to play England tonight.

After working with him closely, Davies shared how Rodon has made it look ‘quite easy’ against some of the best teams in the world on the international stage.

“He’s a very good player,” Davies told Sky Sports. “Ever since he first came into the camp, he has shown how strong he is and how able he is to compete at the top level.

“I think some of the games he has played, like Croatia where they are some of the best attacking players in world football, and it was quite easy for him. He came in and he made it look like he had been there for a long, long time.

“If we were to get him at Spurs then I would be delighted and I think he would be a credit to the club.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings

  1. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

    £15 million; Southampton

  2. Joe Hart

    Free

  3. Matt Doherty

    £13 million; Wolves

  4. Sergio Reguilon

    £25 million; Real Madrid

  5. Gareth Bale

    Loan; Real Madrid

  6. Carlos Vinicius

    Loan; Benfica

  7. Joe Rodon

    £12 million; Swansea

Jose Mourinho has enough cover at the heart of Tottenham’s defence, with Eric Dier now the chosen one at the back, with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez picked to play alongside him.

Academy product Japhet Tanganga is another individual deployed in that area, but compared with Rodon, he doesn’t have that much experience under his belt.

Unlike the previously light striker department, the centre-back spot isn’t one that needs addressing urgently, but a fresh new face would be useful following the departure of the previously popular Jan Vertonghen.
