Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and are ready to pay £35 million for the youngster.

Sessegnon is surely the brightest prospect in England currently plying his trade outside of the Premier League, so it is no surprise that the Telegraph reports that Fulham are likely to look for around £50 million for the youngster.

The idea of spending £35 million on a player yet to play in the top flight would have seemed insane a couple of years ago, let alone the prospect of meeting Fulham’s asking price and offering £50 million for the teenager – but it is simply a gamble that Spurs must take.
Sessegnon is clearly destined for the highest level of English football. Already a key part of Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, the England under-19 international is capable of playing anywhere down the left flank, and is more than capable of having a direct hand in goals.

He has scored 18 goals in 60 Championship games – including 13 this season already – while he has also provided seven assists in that time. Based on his current level of performance, his potential should be only defined as frightening.
It is an incredible amount of money to spend and a move would undoubtedly be a gamble on Tottenham’s part, but the signs certainly suggest that they will not regret taking a risk and paying the eye-watering amount to get Sessegnon to join them.
The starlet should be more than capable of repaying that faith in years to come, and he should be confident – if Spurs have a bid accepted – that working with Mauricio Pochettino and his staff may represent a brilliant opportunity for the youngster to realise his full potential.
Being willing to meet Fulham’s £50 million asking price may leave some scratching their heads, but Sessegnon is going to the highest level at some stage, and if Spurs do not act this summer, it seems more than likely that they can forget about the asking price remaining at £50 million or they will be left to kick themselves because another team took the gamble first.
