Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero could see them miss out on the signing of Bologna ace Takehiro Tomiyasu.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Romero has decided he wants to join Tottenham this summer in a deal that could reach €60million (£51million).

Atalanta are already starting to look at replacements, such as Juventus ace Merih Demiral or Lille’s Sven Botman, but Tomiyasu is another name on their list.

Tomiyasu has been liked at Atalanta for some time now, but it looked they would miss out on his signature to – ironically – Tottenham.

The Athletic reported earlier this month that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Tomiyasu in a deal worth £15million plus add-ons.

Tomiyasu has now gone to the Olympic Games with Japan, meaning a move to Tottenham has somewhat stalled.

It’s unclear whether Tottenham want to sign Tomiyasu as well as Romero, but Atalanta are now eyeing up the Bologna star to replace their Argentinian ace.

If Atalanta rake in around £50million for Romero, paying £15million for Tomiyasu won’t be an issue, though it could leave Paratici a little frustrated if he does want to sign both.
