Lewes winger Ollie Tanner could be left out of the squad to face Cray Wanderers tonight – and he’s now expected to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to The Argus, who claim that Lewes are considering pulling Tanner out of tonight’s game.

They don’t want to risk Tanner getting injured and miss out on a life-changing move to the Premier League.

It’s stated that Brighton and Hove Albion wanted to sign Tanner, but that move is now looking ‘unlikely’.

The Guardian have also reported on Tanner’s future, claiming that Tottenham will win the race for his signature.

Lewes host Cray Wanderers at The Dripping Pan, but may have to do it without their star winger Tanner.

Tanner, 19, was in the Arsenal ranks before leaving in 2017. Lat summer, Tanner left Bromley for a move to Lewes.

Having scored 12 goals this season, left winger Tanner has found himself a wanted man several levels above the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Tanner caught Tottenham’s attention and he has been training with Spurs under Chris Powell for the last two weeks.

Tottenham made their move to sign Tanner over the weekend according to The Athletic, and Tanner being left out tonight would surely signal that a deal is close.

Spurs’ offer allegedly doesn’t include a loan-back option, meaning Tanner will head straight into Tottenham’s development ranks.

Seeing Tanner become a star at Tottenham would be quite the story, not just because of his rise for non-league, but also because of his Arsenal history.

Premier League stardom is a long shot for Tanner, but you can never say never; look at Jamie Vardy, Michail Antonio, Charlie Austin and Chris Smalling in the past.

A deal for Tanner appears to be close, and Tottenham could yet sign another non-league ace in Ramsgate striker Joshua Ajayi, who has also been on trial with Spurs.
