According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a swoop for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as the long-term successor to Hugo Lloris.
The World Cup winner recently made a high-profile error in the North London Derby, which has unfortunately become a bit of a habit for him over the past couple of years.
As a result, it does make sense for Tottenham to be eyeing a replacement for Lloris in Oblak.
The million-dollar question remains whether it is the best time to sign the £350,000-a-week man.
In the 2021/2022 season, the 30-year-old endured one of the sharpest declines from any elite goalkeeper one has witnessed for years now.
While the experienced No.1, once lauded by Lionel Messi as ‘one of the best goalkeepers in the world’ (as relayed by Outlook) is an all-time great, there should be question marks over whether this would be the perfect time to sign him.
But it seems as if Tottenham, who have been linked with Jan Oblak on a host of occasions now are keen on him taking over from Hugo Lloris.
The club are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper, as the Frenchman continues to deteriorate season after season.
Tottenham eye Jan Oblak as the long-term Hugo Lloris replacement

The Evening Standard have reported that in a bid to bring in a brand-new No.1, Tottenham Hotspur are ‘interested’ in signing Jan Oblak to replace Hugo Lloris in the long term.
Interestingly, it has also been claimed that the two-time La Liga winner is open to playing in the Premier League.
However, the potential transfer is expected to cost more than it would to sign the £15 million-rated (The Telegraph) David Raya.
Regardless of whether Tottenham Hotspur supporters are fans of the potential arrival of Jan Oblak, one thing that remains unanimous is that Hugo Lloris does need succeeding at this point.
