Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to go up against Bayern Munich for Conor Gallagher’s signature.

That is according to a report from The Guardian.

It claims that Bayern are interested in Conor Gallagher as Thomas Tuchel eyes up a reunion with his former Chelsea player, but Tottenham are ready to rival them with a late move for the midfielder.

Gallagher could cost Spurs quite a bit of money, though, with the same outlet claiming that Chelsea value him at £50m.

Despite there being a willingness to sell the 23-year-old, Gallagher has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino in this early part of the Argentine’s tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The Englishman has started all three of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far and even captained them in their 2-1 win against AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup last night.

Conor Gallagher could be a good replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is currently in doubt. According to the Daily Mail, the Dane is holding discussions about a potential loan move to Atletico Madrid.

If he goes, it makes sense to bring in Gallagher, who could be a solid replacement.

Gallagher would need little time to settle, already possessing a wealth of Premier League experience. He has been learning to deal with the pressure that comes with playing at a top club as well after finally getting his chance at Chelsea last term, while he has also shown that he is a midfielder capable of scoring goals.

During his loan spell at Crystal Palace in the 2021/22 season, the England international netted eight times in the Premier League, which is pretty good for someone in his position.

Tuchel has described his development as “extraordinary” and he has time to grow even more, perhaps at Tottenham if Ange Postecoglou and the north London club get their way.
