Tottenham Hotspur are open to loaning out Japhet Tanganga amid interest from Inter Milan.
That is according to a report on Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.
It states that while Inter’s interest has not really come to life yet, the Italian giants have Japhet Tanganga on their radar and there has been some contact between the parties.
The report also claims that Tottenham are not against letting the defender leave on loan, which has not always been the case in the past.
With Ange Postecoglou having strengthened his central defence this summer, an exit is something Tanganga may have to consider if he wants regular game time.
Time for Japhet Tanganga to move on
Tanganga barely played last season, making just four appearances in the Premier League. And things could get even worse for him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the north London club’s acquisition of Micky van de Ven.
They recently confirmed the signing of the Dutchman from Wolfsburg in a potential blow to Tanganga’s chances of getting minutes this term.
You would now expect Van de Ven and Cristian Romero to be Postecoglou’s preferred central defensive partnership for the new campaign.
Tanganga is not a bad defender. He is a centre-half who is quite strong, while his former team-mate Toby Alderweireld has described him as a “very talented boy” in the past.
However, it does not look like he is going to be a key player for Tottenham, so a move this summer could be the way to go.
A switch to Inter also sounds appealing. They reached last season’s Champions League final and have been competing for the Serie A title in recent years.
If the 24-year-old has a chance to join Simone Inzaghi’s side before the transfer window closes, he should probably take it if it is a choice between that and staying at Tottenham to be a bit-part player.
