Sevilla are reportedly in talks to sign Tottenham winger Bryan Gil just 18 months after the La Liga giants sold the Spanish prospect to the north London side.

According to ABC Sevilla, the two clubs are in talks over the 22-year-old playmaker that could see Gil return to Seville, with the attacker set to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window for good having failed to impress Antonio Conte.

The youngster was shipped out on loan last January to Valencia where Gil impressed massively back in Spain. However, the winger has failed to make much of an impact at Tottenham this season, with a permanent departure on the cards for the forward.

Tottenham signed Gil from Sevilla in 2021 in a £25m deal that saw Erik Lamela go the other way. However, the Spanish side are now in talks to bring their former wonderkid back to Andalusia as Conte looks to offload the winger for good.

As per the report, Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi is said to be working hard behind the scenes to improve the squad with the La Liga giants sat in an astonishing 18th place ahead of the league reset, with Gil returning a potential coup for the Spanish side.

Indeed, Gil is still highly-regarded despite hardly featuring for Tottenham this season, and Sevilla signing their former superstar having already made £25m on the attacker over a year ago would be an astonishing turn of events for the UEFA Champions League side.

Tottenham’s transfer dealings in recent years have been patchy, to say the least, yet there’s no denying that Gil being sold back to Sevilla would be nothing short of embarrassing for Spurs, who will be left with egg on their face over the Spanish youngster.

What is more is that Sevilla signing Gil will likely turn out to be ane excellent deal for the La Liga giants, with the 22-year-old showing with Valencia that he has the potential to become a superstar if given the freedom and time to play to his strengths.
